Broiler ChickensHumans do many horrible things to animals, but what we have done to Chickens raised for food is by far one of the most horrible.Even if a “broiler” chicken is rescued from a fate of being someones meal, they have been so genetically messed up that they will not make it to a year old. Their own bodies give out on them, growing too fast and too big. The hen above (Sandy) was a rescued Broiler, she made it to 6 months old, she died of a heart attack and for the few months I knew her she could hardly walk..Each year world wide over 50 billion chickens are killed for food, when they are only weeks old. They are kept in sheds with hundreds of other birds, sitting in heir own excrement. Antibitotics are routinely used in the broiler industry to avoid the common diseases caused by living in excrement. In other words, they assume disease is so likely to occur that they treat them for the illness as a preventative measure by adding it continually to feed. (it also stimulated appetite, thereby making them grow even faster).Chickens are highly intelligent animals, that are denied any natural life, even if they are rescued they will die before they reach 1 year old… That’s like a human not even making it to 8 years old, imagine that? And no, Free range does not protect these innocent creatures from a short miserable “life”, they are still kept in sheds/ still fed to grow fast and maximise profits, they are given a small outdoor area which barely any can reach because of overcrowding/not being able to walk very far after a few weeks. This is not at all fair, at all. hauntinghillhouse said: From what I've heard, both crows and ravens can speak like humans since their tongues are detached from their bottom beaks, which allows them to move their tongues freely. :) Also, crows and ravens are extremely intelligent animals- they learn habits, various words, and understand the concept of play. Ravens have even been known to carry on relationships with wolves in which they aid wolves in finding carcasses and eat the leftovers.

Tumblr Teaches History

I reblog this for the anon who once sent me an ask telling me there was no such thing as a history fandom on tumblr.
